SUMMARY:History Day
DESCRIPTION:History Day is a concentrated\, experiential time when we bring history to life for children. Each grade has an assigned piece of the historical timeline where they “live” for the year. There are many opportunities throughout the year for exploring that time period through special reading lists\, regular regional trips\, art projects and more\, but on this day we take things to a different level. Students dress up in costumes\, cook traditional recipes with their teachers\, engage in collaborative projects with their classmates and enjoy special visitor demonstrations. In the past\, archaeologists have come\, a colonial textiles expert and a Medieval weapons demonstration – just to name a few. These experiences are all calibrated to leave the students with an unforgettable taste of how people lived long ago and a hunger to know more.
